Serving as a judge is the honor of a lifetime.
Each day I start well before the sun comes up with a prayer for wisdom. A judge has to discern
between a violent predator, and someone who is simply struggling with poverty or mental health
challenges.
It is humbling work, which I thrive on. At two in the morning, I may get phone calls from social
workers and law-enforcement in the field, and we must decide whether to remove children from awful
homes. At five in the afternoon, I may sentence a drug dealer, a child molester, or a murderer. It is not
work for the faint of heart. It is not work you do without vast experience.
It is not work that you leave at the office.
I am proud of the innovative work we have done. Our Family Preservation Court is a model for the rest
of the state. Our Best for Baby program has saved children, and created better outcomes for their
parents. My unmatched experience, over 500 jury trials, ensures the public safety that all of us
treasure in St Tammany and Washington Parish.
I am guided in this work by my faith. I ask for your support and your prayers as I continue this work
as your Judge in Division G.
